World’s First Glass Sky Pool Links 2 Residential Buildings in London

By: | August 27th, 2015

Dezeen reported last week that two apartment buildings in South London, part of the Embassy Gardens development, are about to be connected by a glass swimming pool 82 feet (25m) long, 16.4 feet (5 m) wide, 10 feet (3 m) deep and just 8 inches (10 cm) thick. Adding to the fun will be a rooftop bar, a spa, and other amenities. What could go wrong?

Embassy Gardens boasts 2.6 million square feet of apartments, office space, retail and leisure space with grocery stores and community space. The total number of homes is 2,000, and there is an onsite hotel with 100 rooms.

Ballymore Group, which developed the residential blocks, hired architects Arup Associates, Eckersley O’Callaghan which specialize in marine engineering and design, and Reynolds, which specializes in aquarium design. The vision for the one-of-a-kind pool came from Ballymore CEO Sean Mulryan.

If you wish to have a residence in Embassy Gardens, prices start at $960,000 (£600,000)
