Technology Transforms the Paper Airplane into a Bluetooth, App-Controlled Device

By: | January 27th, 2014

PowerUp Toys’ new product, the PowerUp 3.0 Smartphone Controlled Paper Airplane Kit, is looking to rejuvenate the public’s interest in paper airplanes. The new paper airplane kit is actually the third generation of the toy, but the previous two lacked the most important part of the PowerUp 3.0, an accompanying smartphone app!

All you have to do is follow a template from PowerUp Toys in order to fold your airplane correctly. Then, simply attach the PowerUp module to your plane, pair it to your phone app and it’s ready to fly.

The battery will last for about 10 minutes of flying time, but a microUSB charger allows you to recharge your plane in no time. Perhaps the most enjoyable part about the innovative toy is actually steering the airplane with your phone. Tilt your phone side to side to steer and adjust propeller strength on the app. Also, battery life and signal strength between your phone and your plane can be viewed though the app.

PowerUp claims the airplane is easily controlled up to a range of 60 yards and reviews have been positive thus far. Look for PowerUp’s latest product to be available in May 2014.
