McLaren Officially a Tech Company After Changing Corporate Identity

By: | January 14th, 2015

McLaren has made a minor change to the company’s corporate moniker, going from simply McLaren Group to now McLaren Technology Group, meaning it is now officially a tech company.

The idea to add “technology” to the company’s name represents how much the company is doing outside of racing.

In fact, CEO Ron Dennis said, “Technology drives everything we do.” An incredible 75% of the company’s 3,000 employees are currently working on projects that aren’t directly involved in motorsport, but the majority are working on tasks revolving around technological innovation.

As McLaren continues to reinvent itself, the company is now actively planning the construction of a brand new technology center to expedite research, assemble more vehicles, and provide more workshops to encourage technological breakthroughs.
