Gun Enthusiasts are Using This Simple Trick to Get Around New York’s Assault Rifle Ban

By: | April 24th, 2014

New York is considered to have the nation’s toughest law when it comes to the ban on the sale of assault rifles.

In January of 2013, The Safe Act banned high-capacity magazines and assault weapons such as an AR-15 while also requiring much more intense background checks for all gun purchasers.

Gun shops and gun enthusiasts have found a simple way to navigate around the assault rifle ban by replacing the grip on what is considered a banned weapon to make it compliant with the law.

These modified weapons do not have to be registered with the state and provide the same firing rate and power before modification.

The one difference? The gun has to be held slightly differently with the modified grip.
