Footage: Monster Squid Attacks Greenpeace Submarine In The Bering Sea

By: | October 30th, 2014

Cephalopod Awareness Week, which officially takes place October 8th through the 12th, provided the public with some pretty incredible footage thanks to a short video Greenpeace USA posted to its Vine account following an encounter with a squid.

In the video, a monster squid attacks a Greenpeace submarine while in the Bering Sea.

Cephalods certainly have many unique characteristics like ejecting ink to wield off predators. The footage shows one squid literally shining in the background as the bigger squid attacks, something that could possibly help identify what species was involved in the encounter since there are almost 300 species worldwide.

It is clear that the sea creatures don’t take too kindly to unknown objects exploring their habitat.
