California’s Recent Rain Still Not Putting a Dent In Their Drought

By: | March 3rd, 2014

Heavy rain hit California this past weekend and continues to fall in some areas of the state.

Unfortunately, even with more than an inch falling overnight in Southern California on Friday, the U.S. Drought Monitor website shows California has a long way to go before overcoming their drought issues.

Before the rain, the site showed…

94.56 percent of the state was rated as suffering from drought conditions — 90.82 percent was classifed as either “severe,” “extreme” or “exceptional” (the worst).

This storm will do little to make up the state’s precipitation deficit but the possibility of another storm visiting California bodes well for helping prevent water shortages through 2014.
