US Government Looks to Build Massive New City Solely for Wireless Tech Research

By: Marshall Smith | August 16th, 2014

The US government is pushing to create an entire city somewhere in the United States for spectrum sharing experiments and research, with the idea of developing not only more but faster wireless connections across the country.

The experimental city would look into the possibility of some organizations sharing their airwaves with the public for Wi-Fi connections.

Reports are that the US government is looking for one or more cities in the United States to step up and provide “rapid experimentation and development of policies, underlying technologies, and system capabilities.”

The only problem is, the government itself can’t decide on who should head the operation, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), private companies, local government, etc.?

In fact, you can throw your idea into the pot for how the ‘test city” should operate…

Submit your idea HERE!
