16) Put big data to use solving human and technological problems – the amount of information being produced each day is mind-boggling so techniques are being developed to mine the data for useful information. For example, scientists are modeling hurricanes in an attempt to understand their origin, development and effects. The number of variables involved in a hurricane is huge and it may take decades before technology and science are accurate enough to improve predictions and outcomes. This is only one example of thousands of critical projects that could be undertaken to solve the world’s problems through data creation and analysis.
