A cube composed of 410-pound (186 kgs) of pure 24-karat gold has been placed right in the middle of New York City’s Central Park. The $11.7 million worth of cube was placed in the park on February 3, 2022.

The cube has been designed by German artist Niclas Castello who is promoting a new cryptocurrency, called the Castello Coin. The cryptocurrency is also being released alongside the cube.

Never in history, such an enormous amount of gold has been cast into a single pure gold object.

Artist took more than 4,500 hours to create this art piece

The gold cube was manufactured in the Art Foundry H. Rüetschi in Aarau, Switzerland. It required a special kiln to hold a large volume of gold. The kiln was heated at 1,100 degrees Celsius to melt the gold bars and cast them into a cube.

The cube measures just over a foot and a half in dimension and is only about a quarter-inch thick, with a hollow center.

The 410-pound gold art piece has its security team!
