Researchers at the University of California have developed a remarkable liquid that can capture and store solar energy for long periods, effectively acting like “bottled sunlight.” This innovation represents a major step forward in renewable energy storage by offering a new way to preserve the sun’s power until it is needed.

How the Liquid Stores Energy

The system relies on specially designed organic molecules that change their structure when exposed to sunlight. When solar energy strikes the liquid, the molecules absorb that energy and rearrange into a higher-energy configuration. Instead of immediately converting sunlight into electricity, the energy is locked inside chemical bonds.
