A Fragrance Brand Built on Ancient DNA

Future Society is a revolutionary biotech perfume brand blending cutting-edge science with the lost beauty of nature. Founded by Jasmina Aganovic, the startup brings back the scents of extinct flowers by decoding their ancient DNA. Scientists, in collaboration with Harvard University Herbaria, extracted genetic material from botanical specimens preserved since the 1800s. This genetic data enabled them to reconstruct the scent profiles of flowers that disappeared more than a century ago.

The Scent Surrection Collection

In its debut line — The Scent Surrection Collection — Future Society introduces six unique fragrances inspired by extinct flowers. These include Orbexilum stipulatum from the American Midwest and Hibiscadelphus wilderianus, a Hawaiian bloom that vanished in 1912. Expert perfumers like Jérome Epinette and Olivia Jan translated DNA-based scent profiles into complex fragrances, blending bioengineered, synthetic, and natural ingredients.

Sustainability Meets Innovation

Future Society doesn’t just innovate — it redefines sustainable perfumery. By recreating floral aromas in the lab, the brand avoids harvesting rare or endangered plants. This approach not only preserves nature’s legacy but also showcases how science can shape the future of scent creation.

“Through advances like DNA sequencing, we now have access to nature’s instruction manual,” said Aganovic. “That means we no longer need to extract plants from the Earth or disrupt nature.”

Try the Scents of the Past

You can experience these revived aromas firsthand. More than just perfumes, Future Society’s creations act as scented time capsules — blending history, innovation, and environmental consciousness into every bottle.
