Friday, a Portugal-based design firm, has developed a beautiful, self-sufficient floating home that is completely off-the-grid. The modular floating home is named ‘Floatwing’.

Environmentally-friendly Floatwing can generate all of the energy it needs for an entire year, in just over six months

Floatwing is available in four different models. The top of the line model has a solar energy system and a mini wastewater and supply water treatment system. Two small outboard motors help users steer the Floatwing around at a speed of roughly three miles per hour.

Completely made from eco-friendly materials, this floating home will leave no carbon footprint

Floatwing has two levels. While the first level has sleeping and living areas, the upper level has a barbecue terrace. The living room has floor-to-ceiling glass windows that can be opened in the summer. It has a full kitchen, heat pump, and a wine cellar.

The modular Floatwing neatly packs up into two shipping containers and can be easily stored or transported anywhere.
