Having trouble breathing? In critical moments, every second and every tool counts. That’s where KARL STORZ’s Slimline C-MAC® S comes into play. A next-generation single-use video laryngoscope, the new product is designed to make airway management faster, safer, and more sustainable.
Video laryngoscopes are medical devices that help doctors and clinicians insert a breathing tube (a process called intubation) into a patient’s trachea (windpipe) using video for guidance. The latest addition to this sector from KARL STORZ is part of the trusted C-MAC® product line, reimagining the company’s single-use offering with a slimmer, smarter design. Its 28% slimmer profile doesn’t just improve maneuverability — it gives physicians better visibility during intubation, even in high-stress environments like emergency rooms and intensive care units.
The C-MAC® S is already a staple in operating rooms, but the Slimline version takes things further. Engineered for performance, its new blade geometry provides better access while retaining the breakproof durability necessary in high-pressure clinical settings. The blades are manufactured to withstand the forces applied during intubation, ensuring reliability when it matters most.
Despite its delicate silhouette, the Slimline C-MAC® S is built tough. It’s better for the planet, too. Namely, by combining a reusable imager with single-use blades, KARL STORZ dramatically cuts down on electronic waste. The 28% reduction in material use, plus eco-conscious peel-pouch packaging, made it one of the most environmentally friendly tools in its class.
Existing KARL STORZ customers will be happy to hear that the device also connects seamlessly with C-MAC® HD and C-MAC® Pocket monitors. Thus, hospitals can upgrade without overhauling their current systems. The device is available in a range of blade sizes for different patient needs, offering both adaptability and compatibility in a single solution.
“To empower our healthcare partners and improve patients’ lives around the world, we have been creating high-quality medical instruments for 80 years now,” said Mark Schmelzer, Senior Director Global Marketing for Airway Bronchoscopy, Cardio & Thoracic Surgery at KARL STORZ. “So, it’s only natural that we would create a single-use video laryngoscope with the same quality and engineering as our reusable versions,”
After 80 years of designing high-quality medical instruments, KARL STORZ continues to raise the bar — blending German engineering, Swiss manufacturing, and a deep understanding of clinical needs.
