Pets and farm animals can all find themselves in need of a little assistance from time to time. An animal sanctuary provides protection to such animals where they can live in peace for the rest of their lives.

In such an attempt, the devoted animal rights activist Jon Stewart, the hilarious host of the Comedy central’s ‘Daily Show,’ has purchased a farm in his home state of New Jersey. Jon and his wife Tracey plan to use this farm as an animal sanctuary to provide shelter for rescued farm animals.

Jon has often spoken out against the unethical treatment of animals on his Daily Show. Caring for animals is nothing new for his family, who over the years has adopted a number of rescued animals that includes two horses, two pigs, four dogs, three rabbits, two hamsters, one parrot, two guinea pigs and two fish.

According to Tracey, “the joy of interacting with animals as friends instead of using them for human consumption is life-changing. A trip to Farm Sanctuary should be on everyone’s to-do list, but you can also bring a little bit of sanctuary home when you sponsor an animal through the Adopt a Farm Animal Program.”

Even their children are living the Farm Sanctuary life; Tracey stated that “promises of animal shelter visits in exchange for completed homework are the norm in the Stewart household.”
