GE Releasing New Sneakers Designed To Honor NASA Moon Shoes

By: | July 17th, 2014

The 45th anniversary of the 1969 moon landing is coming up on the 20th of this month.

In an effort to honor the landing as well as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, GE partnered with Android Homme and JackThreads to recreate the NASA moon shoes as sneakers.

The limited edition shoes will be available for purchase online starting Sunday at 4:18PM ET, the same time as the moon landing over 40 years ago.

The coolest thing about the wild looking sneakers is that each side of the shoe is made up of heat-resistant, super-light carbon fiber!

Sam Olstein, director of global innovation at GE, says, “We really wanted to about the benefits materials have in industry and correlate that to the benefits materials have in fashion.”
