Helping a Rapidly Aging US Population

IndustryTap reported on elderly falls late last year in “Preventing Falls: Technology to Help Elderly Live Better, Longer.” One of the central problems in falls is vertigo.

Now a new company, FYZICAL, has set up dozens of new medical and science-based balance and therapy centers across the United States to help US citizens maintain or regain balance. The services are based on cutting-edge technology including the Safety Overhead Harness System by Epley Omniax/Vesticon, pictured above. A rapidly growing elderly population is in need of help in finding ways to reduce dizziness, improve balance, and avoid disastrous falls.

The company’s centers are staffed by specialists in orthopedic rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, sports injury rehab, and automobile and work injuries. In addition to diagnosing balance problems onsite, equipment and services include aquatic therapy, massage therapy, and treatment of peripheral and central nervous system disorders. Additional services include:

  • Balance retraining and fall prevention
  • Fitness & whole health
  • Physical therapy
  • Sports rehabilitation

The following infographic includes stats on falls, including an estimated $65 billion price tag in medical and related expenses by 2020.
