China is planning to build the world’s first “artificial intelligence colony” in the South China Sea. With that Artificial intelligences are going to get their own space, where we humans are unlikely to want to visit.
China is building this underwater sea base for deep sea explorations and defense operations
It will be located in the deepest part of the ocean, known as the “Hadal zone,” and is estimated to cost £124 million ($160m) to build.
They are planning to construct the base between 19,685 to 36,100 feet below the South China Sea’s surface. The base will get the power from the cables running from the base up to a ship or platform.
Like a space station, this underwater sea base will have docking platforms. Robot explorers will conduct exploratory missions and will collect samples of minerals which will be analyzed at a self-contained laboratory in the base.
Creating this “AI colony” won’t be easy job for scientists
Seeing that they need to develop materials to withstand the water pressure there, it will be a challenge for the scientists to build a colony at such a great depths.
