On The Edge of Glory: The World’s Greenest Office Building

The Office of the Future

The Edge office building, home to Deloitte’s Amsterdam headquarters, has been named the greenest building in the world. Not only is the Edge green, but it is also at the cutting edge of new working models in which there are no set workspaces for employees. When employees do choose a space to work in, they can individually adjust climate and lighting using a smartphone app.

A Super-Efficient Building Design

The building was designed by PLP Architecture, London, and includes a 44,132 ft.² (4,100 m²) rooftop solar panel installation as well as Philips’ ethernet-powered LED lighting.

Not only was the Edge ranked the greenest building in the world, but it also earned the highest BREEAM rating in history. BREEAM is the world’s leading design and assessment method for sustainable buildings. With a score of 98.36, the Edge beat One Embankment Place in London.
