Applied Materials Tampines Campus in Singapore
Applied Materials is expanding AI chip manufacturing support with a new $500 million Singapore campus designed to increase cleanroom capacity, strengthen R&D, and speed production of semiconductor equipment used by chipmakers worldwide.
The company announced on June 10 that its new Tampines Campus is already operating at volume production. The facility more than doubles Applied Materials’ advanced cleanroom capacity in Singapore and supports the global buildout of AI infrastructure, where demand for next-generation semiconductors continues to reshape production planning.
For manufacturers, this is more than another factory opening. Semiconductor equipment sits near the front of the chip supply chain. When toolmakers add cleanroom capacity, automation, and technical support, chip producers gain a stronger foundation for scaling the hardware behind AI servers, advanced packaging, high-performance computing, and data center expansion.
The Tampines Campus is part of Applied Materials’ broader Singapore 2030 plan. The site includes expanded manufacturing cleanroom space, production capacity, and R&D facilities to support global and regional customers. The company expects to add about 1,000 local jobs over the next few years as it builds technical capacity around semiconductor equipment production and commercialization.
What makes the campus especially relevant is its intelligent, future-focused approach to manufacturing and environmental design:
- Intelligent Manufacturing Automation: The facility utilizes autonomous mobile robots, automated assembly and testing systems, and AI-assisted quality inspection to reduce bottlenecks and improve production consistency.
- Next-Generation Workforce Training: Augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) tools are deployed on-site to support technician training, troubleshooting, and precision equipment maintenance.
- Eco-Efficient Infrastructure: Built to meet Singapore’s highest green building certification, the campus incorporates solar panels, low-carbon concrete, closed-loop water reclamation systems, and real-time monitoring of energy and water consumption.
Sustainability remains a key part of the expansion strategy. By combining automation with resource-efficient design, the company is creating a facility intended to support long-term semiconductor growth while reducing operational impact.
