What does the company with the largest market cap in the world do with its money? Anything it wants! Apple computer — flush with money from record-setting sales of iPhones, iPads, and other modern electronic paraphernalia over the past decade — is getting ready to build the crown jewel of its forward thinking, cutting-edge brand: a corporate campus.

Some might think it an oxymoron” “cutting edge corporate campus” but Apple is moving ahead with a project that looks good on paper. We’ll just have to see if they continue to bring in top talent and execute on their business plan.

Apple Campus

Apple has chosen Foster + Partners, ARUP North America and Kier & Wright to build the office, research and development building that will be 3 million ft.² and house 13,000 employees. In order to attract top employees the center will include a corporate auditorium, a fitness center, research facilities, a central plant and a lot of parking space.

Steve Jobs Liked It

Steve Jobs perhaps the most anti-corporate entrepreneur in US history described the campus as “spaceship like.” He liked the circular theme with the courtyard in the middle and the absence of straight or flat glass. The use of some of the largest curved glass pieces in the world, the plethora of curves and the park like land surrounding it make unique.

The project will be green in that the power will be generated on-site in the central plant with solar and wind energy. As the primary sources.
