Amazing Swiss Natural Bathing Pond Can Replace Harsh Chlorine Swimming Pools

Chlorine free pools have long been on the wish lists of pool owners who want their pool safe and healthy. Swimming in chlorinated pools means chlorine odor, burning eyes, skin irritations, rashes, bleached-out bathing suits and sometimes green hair!

Recent scientific studies show that the impact of pool chemicals to our children is five times greater than second hand smoke.

Naturbad Riehen is an all natural, chlorine and chemical free swimming pool

World-renowned Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron has designed this amazing pool in the town of Riehen in Switzerland.

This family-friendly pool features the latest in natural swimming pool design and construction. The natural pool gives you the feeling of swimming in a fresh pond rather than a  swimming pool.

The pool has a completely natural filtration process

  • The process starts with strainers that filter out grease, hair, and other particles from the water.
  • The water is then sent to a nearby basin that uses plants like water lilies and irises with aquatic sediment to absorb bacteria and other compounds.
  • Finally, the clean water is sent back to the swimming pool.
  • In terms of ecological cleaning capacity, the baths are designed to accommodate around 2,000 bathers per day.

The bath site is screened on three sides by an enclosing timber wall to block out view and noise from roads. Long wooden decks line the complex, allowing for sunbathing and relaxation.
