AI Merger: Smartphones

Artificial intelligence is expected to fully merge with mobile phones over the next several years leading to a major turning point in how people consume and use information. Industry leaders, including Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and others, are competing for control of how the AI merger with smartphones will happen and what it might include. AI is already available in some of the newest models.

This comes as demand for smartphones is slightly decelerating. But AI promises to light a fire under demand once it is fully integrated into smartphones. Smartphone as a platform is continuing to improve with better chips, new apps, more features, and novel designs.

Mobile phone manufacturers are already creating smartphones with built-in AI technology, such as Huawei’s Kirin 970 chip and Apple’s iPhoneX A11 Bionic neural engine. These new technologies, when combined with supercomputers and machine learning, are blazing fast and carry out intensive operations for data, voice, and facial recognition. Samsung Bixby 2.0 is expected to be used in consumer electronics and smart home devices, expanding the use of AI to other platforms.

AI Merger: Smartphones & Humans

The AI merger with smartphones will improve performance allowing for more apps, more and better photos, huge energy savings, and increased battery life.

With the size of smartphone technologies shrinking according to Moore’s Law, it is likely smartphones will be small enough to implant and merge with the human body within a decade or two.

The following video explains how mobile phone manufacturing companies are becoming AI companies, too.
