Can you imagine a day when you’re shopping online and no longer have to worry about how a shirt, jeans, or dress you’re contemplating buying might look on you?

That time might come sooner than later as Amazon has patented a blended-reality mirror that lets you essentially try on clothing in virtual reality.

Say what?!

The mirror is partially-reflective and partially-transmissive, and utilizes a mix of displays, cameras, and projectors to create the blended image, according to the patent.

The mirror can scan the environment, identify the user, and reflect virtual clothes onto the user in some crazy wizardry we probably can’t quite understand until we see it in person.

It is worth noting that Amazon purchased Body Labs last year, which appears to be the best explanation for the patent.

As if Amazon weren’t already powerful enough … Watch out fashion industry.
