Tucked Backed In The Hills of Wales, Royal and U.S. Air Force Jets Fly Low and Fast!

By: | October 13th, 2014

The Machynlleth Loop, commonly referred to as the Mach Loop, is a series of valleys in Western Wales used by the Royal Airforce and the United States Air Force to train pilots on the proper way to fly low at high speeds.

Residents in Western Wales are used to the noise and rumble at this point since these test flights take place nearly every day with small jet fighters flying as low as 100 feet off the ground and larger aircraft, such as a bomber jet flying as low as 150 feet.

While the residents might not find the Mach Loop as mesmerizing as others, spectators and photographers trying to get a glimpse of air force Tornadoes, F-15s, and Typhoons regularly ventureĀ into the hills of Wales for a sight they will never forget!
