In a bit of a surprising move, Slovakia has become the latest country to sign up with Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT).

The Hyperloop tubes would connect three major cities in Austria, Hungary, and Bratislava, with the longest distance within the route being 125 miles (by car) between Bratislava and Budapest.

While a real Hyperloop is nowhere near becoming a reality at the moment, especially one connecting three countries, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is currently working on a prototype out in California.

However, the Hyperloop prototype, which HTT hopes will be operational, will only be 5 miles long.

That’s small beans compared to what Slovakia wants to do with its hyperloop system.

You have to start somewhere, though, just don’t expect a functional Hyperloop opening in Slovakia anytime in the near future.
