Nike has confirmed it is releasing self-lacing, light-up sneakers to the public.

The shoes are modeled after the self-lacing shoes from ‘Back to the Future Part II’ worn by its character Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox in 1989.

Nike made this announcement on October 21, 2015, the date to which Marty travels in the movie.

Nike has named these futuristic shoes ‘Nike Mags’. Nike Mags can suck the laces in and adapt to fit the wearer.

Nike plans to release a limited number of these self-tying shoes in the spring of 2016. The shoes will not be available to buy in shops. Instead, Nike plans to auction these shoes, and the proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
