Programmable Wireless Ear Buds are Volume Knob on the World, Personal Sound Studio

From the beginning, humans have had to tolerate unwanted sounds. Covering your ears was about all you could do, until now.

Soon people everywhere will be able to manage sounds in their environment by making adjustments on smartphone software that communicates wirelessly with sophisticated ear buds in the user’s ears. The software promises to put a “sound studio” in the palm of your hand, allowing you to adjust and filter the sounds.

This month, Doppler Labs raised $635,189, more than 250% over their initial target, for what is being billed as the future of listening, giving users a “volume knob on the world”, with live EQ or sound equalization using built-in filters.

The company’s “Here Active Listening” earbud technology will begin shipping in December 2015.
