In order to protect the abundance of plants, different animal species, and woodlands in the mountains, Chinese engineers have built a stunning new route in Hubei province.

This magnificent road that connects Xingshan County in Hubei to the G42 express highway that connects Shanghai to Chengdu was opened on August 9.

The journey used to take about an hour along steep uphill and downhill grades with many hairpin bends. But with this stunning new route, travel time will be cut down to just 20 minutes.

It not only is a more comfortable and shorter drive, but this route is a feast for the eyes as well. You are treated to stunning views of the valley with the river glittering alongside.

This beautiful road is dubbed as the ‘Over-Water Highway.’ It measures 6.8 miles in length, with 2.7 miles of this road built on top of a bridge that follows the river valley.
