Omron’s latest robot is a beast of a machine, specifically designed to play ping pong.

The robot utilizes an array of sensors in order to predict a human’s next move and then return the ball with the goal of keeping a rally going for as long as possible.

Omron’s ping pong robot is not designed to necessarily beat the user or be competitive but to simply send the ball back in a way the opponent will be able to easily return the shot to the robot.

In order to return the ping pong ball accurately and at a reasonable speed, the robot uses 3D image processing to collect data regarding the opponent’s movement and trajectory of the ball.

If you love ping pong rallies and are tired of playing your friends, Omron’s new innovation will have you hitting the ball back and forth until you drop.

The only problem is, you better have a lot of space and even more money to get your hands on this monstrous ping pong bot.
