New Text, Email or Facebook Likes? There’s a Scent for That.

Scentee is a plug-in accessory that plugs into the headphone socket of iPhones and Android smartphones. Whenever you receive a comment on your Facebook post, an email or an SMS text, you could get a whiff of your favorite food every time.

The round, whit gadget releases a burst of fragrance, paired with a customizable LED light. The customizable light spreads out from both the nozzle and the circumference, giving a beautiful ambient light effect and the aroma of your choice is released.

You can even schedule the scent emission to match with your alarm clock. Available aromas include rose, mint, cinnamon roll, coffee, curry, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lavender, apple, coconut, strawberry and corn soup. Not only that, there is a special limited edition of Korean flavors with two different types of meat and baked potato.

According to Scentee’s website, the current model will deliver 100 bursts per capsule. The device costs about $35 and each cartridge is priced at $5.

The company is trying to further expand its software capabilities. At present, aroma release can be added to social networks, SMS, games and alarms; however, developers are trying to invent hardware aimed at further miniaturization and the ability to embed multiple scents into a single accessory.
