NetDragon Websoft’s Founder, Liu Dejian, Spent $97 Million Building a 260-Meter Long Star Trek-Like Office

The new office space for Chinese game developer NetDragon Websoft is shaped like Star Trek’s USS Enterprise, thanks to NetDragon’s founder, 43-year-old Liu Dejian.

The Chinese exec and Trekkie it would appear, spent a whopping $97 million (600 million yuan) building the 260-meter long ode to Star Trek.

Construction reportedly began in October 2010 in the coastal city of Changle in China’s Fujian province, after NetDragon Websoft received permission from CBS to go through with the unique building idea.

NetDragon told The Wall Street Journal by email, “That was their first time dealing with [an] issue like this and at first they thought that it was a joke. They realized somebody in China actually did want to work out of a building modeled on the USS Enterprise only after we sent the relevant legal documents.”

Netdragon’s very own USS Enterprise was completed in October of 2014.
