Meet the Amphibious Four Wheeler Built for Two

By: | July 27th, 2014

Michigan-based Gibbs Sports Amphibians Inc. made the  world’s first high-speed sports amphibian four wheeler a few years back. Since then, the company has been developing a two-seat version of its Quadski.

Powered by a 175-horsepower BMW engine, the 45 mph Quadski converts from a Jetski to an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) in not more than five seconds with just a push of a button. The 1,300-pound and 10-feet-long Quadski can keep going for quite some time with its standard 15-gallon fuel tank. The wheels retract into its chassis to let you take your ride to the water.

Gibbs continues to explore the potential of the versatile Quadski with the new Quadski XL … built for sharing

The Quadski was designed to be a personal ATV; the machine was a one-seater making it impossible to share the thrill of the ride with someone else.  The price of $40,000 made it an expensive venture for a family. Realizing this, Gibbs has now set to correct that glaring omission with the new two-seat Quadski XL, making it easier for an additional person to go along for the ride.

Gibbs has stretched out the Quadski by just under a foot to make a room for the second seat. A driver and a passenger can now enjoy a land and sea ride on a single Quadski. Despite adding extra capacity, the Quadski XL doesn’t slow down at all. The price tag is comparable to the Quadski, coming in at $47,650 retail.
