How to Make a Baseball Bat From Scratch Using Maple and Walnut

By: | October 26th, 2015

I am going to be adding more “How To” videos to the site from now on whenever I stumble across something I feel is worthy or people might find interesting.

An awesome tool for videos like this is the Make: YouTube Channel, which brings us to their latest upload on how to make a baseball bat from rough sawn lumber.

Darbin Orvar starts the process with three boards, two maple and one walnut, that are each at least 40 inches long. Instead of using one solid piece of wood like most traditional bats are made, Orvar uses three.

She changes things up by adding some maple in addition to walnut to create a masterpiece of a baseball bat if I do say so myself.

All in all, it’s mesmerizing to watch someone who is really good at what they do work on their craft, from merging and shaving down the wood to the final product.
