Glacier Skywalk’s Structural Steel, Glass and Wood Platform Opens in Jasper National Park

By: | May 20th, 2014

The Glacier Skywalk provides a view like no other with its glass walkway edging out over the valleys of the Canadian Rockies.

Located in Jasper National Park, just west of Edmonton, the Glacier Skywalk’s glass floors give walkers the view of the earth 918 feet below and opened to the public May 1.

The walkway was constructed using mostly steel and completed with toxin-free materials to avoid the structure ever clashing with the natural scenic beauty of Jasper National Park. Sturgess Architecture from Calgary built the structure and it was initially supposed to open two years ago, according to the architecture firm’s website.
