Wearable electronics have been expected to explode for a while now.

Except for the fact, that well, they simply haven’t, whether it be Google Glass or the Apple Watch.

Smartphones, however, continue to thrive and for great reason. Most of the things your FitBit or Apple Watch can do, you already have in your pocket whether it be a Samsung Galaxy or an iPhone.

Samsung Brazil is now thinking outside of the box when it comes to smart electronics, introducing a Galaxy surfboard concept that looks intriguing, to say the least.

The new ad below shows Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina using the Galaxy surfboard, which features an LED display powered by a Samsung Galaxy S7 that slips right into a slot at the bottom of the board.

While the Galaxy surfboard concept can supposedly show live conditions of the sea on the board in real-time, in addition to wave height and wind patterns, we’ll take a cautious approach with this idea before getting too excited.

As someone who wants to learn how to surf, I’ll gladly pay for an interactive surfboard, as long as it can feed me nearby shark locations to avoid.
