Ford & Tonka Teamed Up to Create a REAL 6.7-Liter Diesel V-8 Dump Truck!

I would be willing to bet almost every person I know played with a Tonka truck at some point during their childhood. That’s how iconic Tonka’s toy brand was and still is…

Now, however, Ford Motor Company has announced it teamed up with Tonka to bring to life a full-size, fully functional F-750 dump truck, equipped with a 6.7-liter diesel V-8.

The beast of a truck will be revealed to the public at the National Equipment Association Work Truck show in Indianapolis this week, something Ford’s chief truck spokesman, Mike Levine, is excited about.

“The people at Geneva (Motor Show this week) will wish they were here instead,” Levine says.

The 6.7-liter diesel V-8 in Ford’s new Tonka truck is rated up to 330 horsepower with 725 pounds-feet of torque and is capable of hauling 17,000 pounds in the dump box.

While the new Ford-Tonka dump truck is 100% real, it will be the only one of its kind because it is being used exclusively as a promotional item for Ford’s upcoming 2016 F-650 and F-750 trucks.

“It’s two iconic brands getting together to make a big toy for all ages,” Levine says. “Creating this F-750 Tonka truck is a special way to celebrate that many of today’s Ford truck customers first drove a Tonka truck,” says Kathy Hawk, vice president of marketing for Tonka parent Funrise Toy.
