Most Americans are not aware that Dallas, Texas is building America’s largest urban nature park. With this, Dallas will become one of the greenest cities in America.

Designed by Landscape Architects Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates (MVVA), it is dubbed as “The Trinity River Park.”

The area for the nature park actually consists of a floodplain. The flood protection site is being transformed “from a natural disaster into a breathtaking spectacle.”

This amazing “Nature District” will cover 10,000 acres, which is over 10 times the size of New York’s Central Park. It will include 1,000 acres of the existing developed areas, 2,000 acres of space between the Trinity River levees, and 7,000 acres of the Great Trinity Forest.

The park is designed with the goal to enhance the natural beauty of the area while minimizing flooding damage in Dallas. There will be playgrounds, plazas, riverside trails, and lawns for the Dallas folks to enjoy.

As per Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, “The Trinity project in its completion will redefine Dallas for the 21st century. We need a park to do that.”

Deedie Rose, chair of the board of the Trinity Trust, said, “It turns a divider into a connector. What a great thing for a city. It helps unite a city and if we ever needed it, we need it now.”
