Corvette ZR-48 Speedboat Hits 180 MPH (Video)

Humans can now enjoy the sensation of speed over water.

This 48-foot (14.6m) boat, assembled by Marine Technology, Inc., is awesome because it was inspired by a Corvette, contains real Corvette parts, and looks like a Corvette LS9 due its sleek body lines, gull wing doors, engine covers, tail lights, marker lights, ZR-48 emblems and engine vents. The ZR-48, like the LS9, contains lots of carbon fiber. What’s more, the boat comes with five television sets, a LED display system that has 900 lights, and reaches 180 mph (290 km/h).

The ZR-48 is powered by twin-turbo charged Mercury Marine V-8 engines that produce 1,350 hp each. The interior features the highest quality leathers, custom steering wheel and shift control. These instruments control the drive trim and the throttle for both engines.

The boat doesn’t come all by itself. Marine Technology designed and built a trailer with a generator, water tank, power washer, engine flush system, billet aluminum steps, stainless steel fenders, chrome handrails and hydraulic landing gear.

The ZR-48 is priced at $1.7 million.
