Amazon Looking For Exemption From FAA To Test Drones Near Seattle

By: | July 11th, 2014

Earlier this week, Amazon asked for an exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in order to test drones closer to the company’s private R&D center near Seattle.

Currently, drone testing has to be done at FAA-designated-sites, of which six exist across the United States.

If Amazon can prove their testing will not affect the overall safety of the public, it is very likely the company will be granted the exemption, which would be a huge step in the advancement of the Amazon Prime Air service.

Paul Misener, Amazon’s VP of Global Public Policy, says, “We want to do more R&D (research and development) close to home.”

Seems logical to me!
